The Opening Of Pippin's Wood

Children, parents, staff and Friends of Baltonsborough School in the newly opened Pippin's Wood

Baltonsborough Primary School and Little Pips Pre-school were very pleased to welcome friends and family to the Grand Opening of Pippin's Wood in the school grounds.

A great team effort has turned an area originally fenced off area into a wonderful open natural environment which has been opened out to include a campfire, bug hotel, chicken enclosure, willow dome and mud kitchen.

The groundwork was done by staff, parents, friends and the children on working party weekends. We are very grateful for a Big Lottery Fund grant which enabled us to add Pippin's Lookout; a high level climbing frame which enables the children to climb into the tree canopy. Thanks to Jeanes Holland Burnell and Summerfield Homes' support, we also added a traversing and feature wall which fits perfectly into the natural environment.

Richard Nicol, Divisional Director at Summerfield Housing said "We were only too pleased to support the work on creating Pippin's Wood for the children to enjoy. The facilities are a great asset to this wonderful village".

Thanks also to the wonderful Friends of Baltonsborough School, who over two years, raised funds to landscape the area and to buy materials for the campfire and storytelling corner in Russet Glade.

The children and staff would like to thank everyone for their massive support for this project. The children across the school, including Little Pips, spend as much time as possible learning in this wonderful outdoor environment.

It's a joy to see the energy created and the links made by learning outside.
