Hello and a very warm welcome to Camelot Class!
We are an energetic, mixed Year 2/3 class with 22 students. Teaching Camelot Class is our senior teacher Miss Carpenter. Our learning and teaching support assistants are Mrs Handley Smith, Miss Bates and Mr Hardwidge.
Learning through play
Whilst we aim to help the children develop their independence in lessons, there is also a strong focus on learning through play; giving the children plenty of opportunities to get messy, have fun and enjoy building their social skills together. We are lucky enough to have a covered, outdoor area with sand, water and role play stations, along with lots of quality resources to enjoy play indoors too!
Times Tables
We will be learning our 2, 5 and 10 times tables in a variety of different ways, such as chanting, singing and playing games. There are many free online games and resources which we can soon upload links to on our class page.
Handwriting
We will also be practising handwriting – working on letter formation and finger spaces with a view to children one day, confidently joining their handwriting.
Reading
Across the school, we value reading extremely highly, not only to instil reading skills but also a genuine love of books. In Camelot Class, we will explore a range of texts, also linking these to our Literacy lessons. Please aim to hear your child read aloud a minimum of three times a week and enter these in their reading record. The more reading the better though, and we are interested to hear about any books your child enjoys at home for pleasure, so please do note these in there too as it really helps us build up a picture of the types of books they enjoy.
If you have any questions, please do catch us on the gate at the start and end of the day and we will do our best to answer them.
We look forward to seeing you!
