Our Mission

The vision and values of Baltonsborough Primary School

Our Mission Statement

‘Hand in Hand We Live and Learn’

At Baltonsborough Primary School, we value the benefits of working together in a small, caring community whose values are rooted in the Christian faith.

We provide a stimulating learning environment in which all are valued for the contributions they make to our school community.

Through the education and experiences we provide, we develop confident, inquisitive, inventive citizens.

The theological underpinnings for our school vision are outlined here. We use the story of the 12 Friends from Luke Chapters 5 and 6, verses 12 – 16 to share our vision with all members of the school community.

The Aims of the School

We aim to provide:

  • A safe and secure environment in which children are happy.
  • A Christian environment where children understand the key concepts of the Christian faith and know that they are part of a wider Christian community.
  • Opportunities to learn about diversity within Christianity and other faiths and cultures.
  • A stimulating and varied curriculum that prepares children well for their next stage of learning and enables them to flourish academically, socially, morally and spiritually.
  • A close partnership between home, school and the wider community
  • A community where everyone feels valued and appreciated, leading to high standards of behaviour and mutual respect.
  • All children with the ability to reflect on the choices they make and the impact these choices have on themselves and others.
  • All children with the ability to think at a deep level about how they learn and to develop a lifelong love of learning.

Values for Learning and for Life

Creativity, Collaboration, Respect and Independence are key learning values within our curriculum which is designed to inspire and engage all of our children by providing them with a rich variety of meaningful learning experiences within which key skills are embedded and developed in exciting ways. The learning journeys and activities are tailored specifically to meet the needs of the children, and teachers use their knowledge of the specific learning styles and interests of the pupils in each class to guide their choices.

At Baltonsborough School, we endeavour to ensure that the children develop confidence in all aspects of their lives. We achieve this through high-quality teaching, underpinned by rigorous planning, and by providing meaningful and thorough feedback to the children so that they understand what they have done well and know what their next steps are. We encourage the children to reflect on the learning process and ensure that they have an understanding of and vocabulary to describe themselves as learners. Our aim is for the children to leave us with a genuine love of learning that will last a lifetime.

Our school is a place where every individual is valued as one of God’s children, respected for their uniqueness and carefully nurtured so that they achieve their full potential. We teach Christian Values daily through interactions with adults and peers, and by exploring each of our ten core values explicitly within Collective Worship and during times of reflection in class. We believe that both spiritual and moral development is inherently linked and we aim to ‘live out’ our core values in all we do.
